A look at what’s inside the Open water course

Scuba diving or learning to scuba dive is not difficult, but a lot of people have some fear of doing something as different as scuba diving. With some effort and determination on your part you can become a PADI certified Open Water Diver. Casually and in a relaxed setting you will learn to dive safely and competently under the careful guidance of a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer. The training entails 3 Phases: 1. Knowledge development, 2. Confined water training, and 3. Ocean dives. A detailed description is below. These phases can be done separately or blended in different sequences to provide flexibility in training.

Scheduling: Schedules are tough to meet some times, and here at Aquatic Frontier we understand you are busy. As a result we are extremely flexible and can adjust about any plan to help you get certified. It only takes 3 or 4 days of your time to get it all done, but if that’s too much, we can spread it out over 5 or 6 days. We also offer Tuesday and Thursday night classes.

1.                      Knowledge development: Here you are introduced to the basic concepts and principles of scuba diving, and how it affects you and your safety. You are also provided some guidance in selecting scuba equipment so you can make a better purchase the first time. Knowledge development is a blend of individual/independent study and class review. You will need to read and fill out the chapter review for each of 5 chapters in the book. Watch a DVD to further reinforce scuba skills and concepts, followed with a chapter review and quiz, and a final exam at the end to formalize your learning.

Live the Dive LifePADI scuba diver on a DPV with a cuttlefish

2.                      Confined Water training/dives. 5 total dives that reinforce each other to help you build confidence in your new found skills. Here you get to go diving in a controlled environment and really see what its like to go diving. You will learn everything from setting up your equipment, to getting water out of your mask while under water, and how to handle problems when they arise. You will also have a chance to play and get comfortable with you new environment. We stop only when you want to stop.  It’s too much fun.

3.                  Ocean Dives. Here you get to put all the skills you learned in the confined water training to use, have fun, and truly experience the Aquatic Frontier. During this phase you will do 4 ocean dives with a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, and fine tune your scuba skills while exploring a new world with different rules and different realities.  For the cost of $600.00 you get:
